Huskies ice hockey opening game cancelled due to poor ice conditions

The opening game tonight of the 2026-2027 Michigan Tech Huskies ice hockey season against the Minnesota Golden Gophers has been cancelled due to poor ice condition. The games have been rescheduled to Saturday Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. According to Michigan tech Athletics, the ice was too wet and not ready for a hockey game to be played on it; the ice plant is said to work fine and with 1/4″ of ice in the center of the rink, the problem has yet to be identified.
