MLB
The Tigers had yesterday off, and visit the Athletics tonight. Casey Mize will start against Jeffrey Springs. Coverage will begin at 9:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Former Tigers catcher Jake Rogers is now an Oriole. After designating him for assignment, Detroit traded him to Baltimore in exchange for pitching prospect Zane Barnhart, who had been assigned to the O’s Double-A Chesapeake Baysox. He’ll continue his career at Detroit’s Double-A Erie team.
There are reports that Detroit is ready to bring outfielder Max Clark up from Toledo. He’s the Tigers’ top prospect, and ranked 16th in MLB. Clark could take over in center field, where James Outman has struggled since he joined the team in mid-June.
The Brewers also had yesterday off, and will visit the Angels tonight. Shane Drohan will pitch against Ryan Johnson.
Kyle Harrison pitched scoreless ball into the sixth inning in a rehab start for Milwaukee’s High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers yesterday. He allowed just one hit. Harrison is recovering from tendinitis in his pitching arm.
Triathlon
Registration continues until 5:00 this afternoon for tomorrow’s Verna Mize Triathlon. Activities will be based at Houghton’s Ray Kestner Waterfront Park. They include the Main Mize, with a half-mile swim, an eight-mile bike and a four-mile run; the Maxi Mize, with a 1.5k swim, a 40k bike and a 10k run; and the Mini Mize, with a quarter-mile swim, a four-mile bike, and a two-mile run.
