Hao-You Lee’s three-run homer powered the Tigers to a 5-1 victory over the Cubs last evening. Spencer Torkelson also homered, and Keider Montero pitched into the sixth inning, allowing a run on three hits.
The Tigers open a home set against the Royals tonight. Troy Melton will start against Randy Dobnak. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit has added some catching depth by signing 35-year-old journeyman Carlos Pérez to a minor league contract. Pérez was recently released by the Astros, after playing this season with their top minor league team. His most recent major league appearances came with the Athletics in 2023.
The Brewers held off the Mets 4-3. Milwaukee scored three times in the bottom of the second, aided by a two-run triple by Joey Ortiz and an RBI single by Christian Yelich. Yelich tripled home the eventual game-winner in the sixth. Logan Henderson gave up two runs on five hits over five innings, and struck out nine.
The Crew has today off, and welcomes the Rockies tomorrow. Shane Drohan will pitch against Tomoyuki Sugano.
