The Copper Country Community Arts Center opens a striking new exhibition Thursday that captures the region’s mining heritage through the lens of two accomplished photographers.
“Copper and Gold in Silver,” featuring work by Dan Beers and Tim Renken, documents the industrial landscape left behind by decades of mining. Renken’s photographs capture abandoned gold mines in Alaska, while Beers’ images reveal the copper mining legacy scattered across Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.
Shot entirely in black and white, the exhibition transforms desolate mining sites into haunting visual narratives. The monochromatic palette emphasizes the stark beauty of abandoned structures and scarred landscapes.
The opening reception begins at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kerredge Gallery on Quincy Street. The exhibit runs through July 31st.
