In baseball yesterday…
- Lake Linden-Hubbell dropped both of their games with Ontonagon, 9-5 and 11-6.
- L’Anse clobbered Ewen-Trout Creek 21-1. The Purple Hornets got just nine hits, but took advantage of 14 Panthers errors. Daniel Connor had three hits and scored three times. Kale Cichosz got the win on the mound, allowing a run on two hits before the game ended after the fourth inning. He struck out nine.
In softball…
- L’Anse took two from Baraga, 16-11 and 12-5.

In the NBA playoffs last night…
- The Pistons shut down the Cavaliers 115-94. Cade Cunningham led a balanced Detroit attack with 21 points. Jalen Duren had his best game of the series, with 15 points and 11 rebounds. That Eastern Conference semifinal is tied 3-3, and will be decided tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
- The Spurs dispatched the Timberwolves 139-109. San Antonio wins that Western Conference semifinal 4-2, and will face the Thunder in the finals beginning Monday.
NHL
In the NHL playoffs tonight…
- The Canadiens host the Sabres. Montreal leads that Eastern Conference second-round series 3-2.
MLB
Spencer Torkelson singled home Matt Vierling with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, as the Tigers shaded the Blue Jays 3-2 last evening. In another bullpen game, Drew Anderson pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Kenley Jansen worked a perfect ninth to earn the win.
The Tigers host the Blue Jays again today. Casey Mize will return from the injured list to start against Mason Fluharty. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Pitcher Ty Madden was knocked out of last night’s game after facing just two batters when he was hit on the forearm by a line drive. He’ll be evaluated today.
Detroit brought Connor Seabold off the injured list yesterday, and sent Ricky Vanasco back to Toledo.
The Brewers scored twice in the top of the eighth to claim a 3-2 comeback win over the Twins. The tying run scored when Jackson Chourio appeared to have been tagged out at third base on a sharp infield grounder. The umpires ruled that he had been interfered with, and advanced him a base to home plate. Jake Bauers then doubled home Brice Turang with the winning run.
The Brewers visit the Twins again tonight. Logan Henderson will start against Connor Prielipp.
Milwaukee brought Coleman Crow up from Nashville to start last night’s game. Brian Fitzpatrick was sent down. Outfielder Akil Baddoo began a rehab assignment with the Sounds. He’s recovering from a left quad strain.
