Copper Shores Community Health Foundation will conclude Sexual Assault Awareness Month this evening with a community puppy parade designed to bring levity to a serious subject while creating awareness and support for survivors.
The foundation has spent April sharing resources from the local area with the community, culminating in an event that combines education with community engagement through beloved four-legged companions.
“We’ll have some tables for vendors, various resources, as well as Copper Country Humane Society and a few other dog-related resources. People can walk to those tables, check out the vendors. They can also just meet other dogs, hang out, talk to fellow community members,” said Emilie Jacques, marketing associate for Copper Shores.
“We’ll have some lawn signs up with stats and various facts about sexual assault. And then when you are ready, you can take your dog and we will have some signs. You can walk down the sidewalks of downtown Hancock to make a public show of support for survivors of sexual assault,” Jacques said.
The Copper Shores Puppy Parade will meet on the Quincy Green beginning at 5 p.m. The foundation will provide color-coded bandanas for participating dogs.
