High School
In high school softball yesterday…
- Lake Linden-Hubbell defeated Houghton 14-4. After plating a run in the first inning, the Lakes took command with four runs in the second, and five runs in the third. For the Lakes, Cleo Milkey had three hits and drove in five runs. Kyara Mills had three hits and drove in four. Ashlyn Steves scored four times. Payton Goldsworthy got the win in the circle. Lexi Burns and Kia Markham each had two hits for the Gremlins.
- Calumet split a doubleheader with Kingsford. The Flivvers took the opener 13-3. Jailyn Poshak had a double and drove in two runs, Chloe Coppo had a triple, and Millie Loukus had two hits. The Kings won the nightcap 13-3. Jaysa Wilks had two hits, including a homer, and drove in five runs. Loukus had two hits and scored three times. Poshak gave up just two hits to earn the win.
- Hancock defeated L’Anse 12-2 in the opening game of their doubleheader. Diem Kilpela had two hits and drove in five runs for the Bulldogs. Lucy Biekkola had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and scored twice. Chloe Bastian had two hits and scored three times. Biekkola held the Purple Hornets to five hits, and earned the win. The result of the nightcap was not posted.

The Houghton girls soccer team v Marquette yesterday – no report.
The Lake Linden-Hubbell softball team will hold a spaghetti dinner fundraiser tonight between 5 and 7 at the elementary school gym.
The Calumet Athletic Boosters’ Spring Fling takes place Saturday at the Colosseum, with dinner and lots of prizes and auction items. Tickets are available at Copper World.
NHL
In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
- The Lightning shaded the Canadiens 3-2 in overtime. That series is tied 1-1.
- The Bruins dulled the Sabres 4-2. That set is tied 1-1.
- The Mammoth shaded the Golden Knights 3-2. That series is knotted at 1-1.
- The Avalanche edhed the Kings 2-1 in overtime. Denver takes a 2-0 series lead.
Tonight…
- The Penguins visit the Flyers. Philadelphia leads that series 2-0.
- The Wild welcome the Stars. That set is tied 1-1.
- The Oilers entertain the Ducks. Edmonton is 1-0 in that set.
NBA
In the NBA tournament yesterday…
- The 76ers dumped the Celtics 111-97. That series is tied 1-1.
- The Trail Blazers got past the Spurs 106-103. That series is tied 1-1.
- The Lakers grounded the Rockets 101-94. Los Angeles leads that series 2-0.
Today…
- The Pistons host the Magic. Orlando leads that series 1-0. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
- The Suns visit the Thunder. Oklahoma City has a 1-0 lead in that series.
MLB
The Brewers clobbered the Tigers 12-4 last night. Detroit got a decent start from Keider Montero, who pitched into the sixth, and gave up three runs. The crew added two more off Enmanuel De Jesus in the seventh, then piled on seven more runs off De Jesus and Connor Seabold in an error-filled eighth inning. Detroit scratched out one run in the fourth, then tacked on three more in the bottom of the ninth.
The Tigers continue that home set against the Brewers tonight. Casey Mize will start against Chad Patrick. Because of Pistons basketball, Tigers coverage will begin at 6:15 on KBear 102.3.
