College Hockey
The University of Michigan’s NCAA Division I men’s hockey tournament run ended with a 4-3 double overtime loss to Denver in the semifinals last night. The Pioneers will face Wisconsin in the title game tomorrow at 5:30. The Badgers eliminated North Dakota 2-1 in their semifinal match.
NHL
The Red Wings kept their playoff hopes alive with a 6-3 victory over the Flyers last night. Dylan Larkin had a hat trick, Moritz Seider had a goal and four assists, and Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists. Alex DeBrincat netted his 40th goal of the season. Goalie John Gibson left the game midway through, after suffering a collision that left him with neck stiffness. He is not in concussion protocol, and is considered day-to-day. Cam Talbot replaced him.
The Wings welcome the Devils tomorrow.
With three games remaining in the regular season, the Senators continue to control the final Eastern Conference playoff berth. The Islanders also won last night, so Detroit and New York are tied, three standings points behind Ottawa. The Senators own the tiebreaker. Philadelphia is now four points out.
NBA
The Pistons visit the Hornets tonight.
The Bucks welcome the Nets tonight.
MLB
The Tigers’ woes continued with a 3-1 loss to the Twins yesterday. Jack Flaherty turned in his best start of the season, pitching into the sixth, and allowing a run on five hits. Will Vest gave up two runs in the eighth, and took the loss.
The Tigers open a home set against the Marlins tonight. Keider Montero will start against Chris Paddack. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Parker Meadows was taken to a Minneapolis hospital last night after a brutal collision with Riley Greene in the outfield. Team officials say he was being held for observation, and will be evaluated today.
The Brewers had yesterday off, and entertain the Nationals tonight. Chad Patrick will start against Jake Irvin.
Milwaukee has sent pitcher Shane Drohan back down to Nashville.
