The best way to improve a space starts with living in it. On Friday (Today) Michigan Technological University officially cut a ribbon welcoming in students to the new East Hall. Since move-in day, the Michigan Tech Huskies have played, worked, and tested every aspect of their new home. Even coming up with ideas to keep improving the dorm hall.
We have great views of the portage. We get a lot of natural light into the building. I’ve heard a lot of students are very excited because we can actually see the northern lights from our kitchenettes and from some of the rooms. Sydney Wieseler, resident assistant, fourth year student
how are they making use of the amenities, what things do we need to address. I mentioned the stairway up the embankment and a crosswalk across the highway. That was something that we didn’t foresee prior to students moving in. How were they going to navigate from this building to our other buildings on campus? East Hall is home to 500 students. The new dorm hall was created out of a need for new housing options on campus. The hall’s impact has even allowed the university to make changes in other dorm halls, bringing a room from three occupants to two students in McNair Hall. The new East Hall at Michigan Technological University reaffirms the institution’s leader’s commitment to student success and an innovative campus.
