Michigan Technological University’s Health Research Institute recently celebrated the opening of a center in Grand Rapids.
Last week, Michigan Tech HRI leaders and researchers traveled to Grand Rapids to celebrate the opening of the Translational Health Engineering Research Center. The inaugural celebration included addresses from Executive Director of MTU’s Health Reasearch Institute Caryn Heldt, university president Richard Koubek, and THERC Senior Research Scientist Bapi Pahar. The Michigan Tech team was joined by representatives from BAMH Health Corwell Health, Grand Valley State University, Mary Free Bed, Michigan State University, MichBio, Pine Rest, Van Andel Institute.
The Translational Health Engineer Research Center has set a mission to create, expand, and accelerate research activities to improve health. The center’s research focuses on bioinformatics, image processing, molecular dynamics, and application of machine learning with health data, by integrating cutting edge collaboration between Michigan technological university, Grand Rapids area university partners, and health companies.
