They’re coming back.
Next week Michigan Technological University’s student will officially begin moving back into the campus’ dorms. While some student living off campus may have already started settling back into town, or others stuck around to enjoy a Copper Country summer. Many students moving in next week will join the campus community for the first time as members of the freshman class or as transfer students.
The overwhelming day can cause some delays as residents or visitors may travel across campus along us 41. But like any engineer, Michigan Tech has set up a system for move in that makes the whole process fairly easy on students and the community. Students receive specified times for when they will meet at check in and move into their dorm room. Check in will start at the Vanpelt Opie Library where students will pick up keys, a temporary parking pass and map, and welcome packet. All vehicles helping with move in will need a parking pass.
Please be mindful when travel near campus any time. The speed limit driving through campus is 30 miles per hour on US 41. The university will have volunteer crossing guards to keep the intersections across campus safe for pedestrians and vehicles. Official move will begin on Monday august 18th and wraps up by Tuesday. Say hello to a husky if you meet a new student or if you recognize an old friend.
