Four came on a grand slam by Spencer Horwitz. Detroit’s only run came on a Matt Vierling single in the seventh.
The Tigers have lost nine of their last 10, and host the Blue Jays this evening. Reese Olson will face Eric Lauer. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift. The Jays have won five of their last six, and have opened a four-game lead in the American League East Division.
The Tigers made room for Helton on their 40-man roster by designating outfielder Brewer Hicklen for assignment. They opened a space on their 25-man major league roster by placing Tarik Skubal on the paternity list, as he and his wife, Jessica, anticipate the birth of their second child.
The Brewers produced 17 hits, and pasted the Mariners 10-2 yesterday. Quinn Priester turned in seven strong innings, and earned his ninth win of the season. Brice Turang had three hits and drove in three runs. William Contreras had three hits and drove in two runs.
The Brewers take today off, and entertain the Marlins tomorrow afternoon. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Cal Quantrill.
