MLB
The Tigers and Nationals were rained out in the nation’s capital last night. They’ll make the game up as part of a day-night doubleheader today. Coverage of game one will begin at 12:40 on 99.3 The Lift. Tyler Holton will open against Trevor Williams. Game two coverage will start at 6:20. Jack Flaherty will pitch against MacKenzie Gore.
Outfielder Kerry Carpenter is headed to the injured list. He’s been limping with a sore hamstring for several weeks, and aggravated it in Sunday’s game.
Matt Gage is no longer a Tiger. The veteran reliever was designated for assignment several days ago, and has chosen to become a free agent.
The Brewers and Mets were rained out last evening in New York. They’ll also make the game up as part of a day-night doubleheader today. Freddy Peralta will start against Clay Holmes in the afternoon contest. Jacob Misiorowski will face Blade Tidwell in the evening game.
As anticipated, the Brewers have called Anthony Siegler up from Nashville. Daz Cameron was designated for assignment to make room. Milwaukee also put reliever Rob Zastryzny on the injured list with a rib problem. Easton McGee was recalled from the Sounds to fill in.
NBA
One of the NBA’s best three-point shooters is joining the Pistons. Detroit has inked former Heat guard Duncan Robinson to a three-year contract worth $48 million. As part of the sign-and-trade deal, Miami will get forward Simone Fontecchio from Detroit. Robinson will fill the spot being vacated by Tim Hardaway, Jr., who is headed to the Nuggets.
The Bucks have cut ties with guard Damian Lillard. Lillard will likely miss much of next season after injuring an Achilles tendon during the playoffs. Milwaukee is bringing in free agent big man Myles Turner, who helped lead the Pacers to the NBA finals this past season. It’s a four-year deal worth $107 million.
NHL
The Red Wings weren’t able to land any big name free agents this week, aside from re-signing Patrick Kane. They did add some depth by agreeing to one-year deals with forwards James van Riemsdyk and John Leonard, and defensemen Jacob Bernard-Docker and Ian Mitchell.
One of the greatest Red Wings has died. Alex Delvecchio played 24 seasons in the NHL, many of them alongside Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay on the legendary Production Line. He spent 12 seasons as the team captain, and helped Detroit win three Stanley Cups in the 1950s. He later served as coach and general manager of the Wings, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977. Alex Delvecchio was 93.
