Many communities make the Fourth of July a special occasion. But few celebrate from sun up to sun down.
Bright and early, South Range begins its celebrations of the nation’s independence with a flag-raising ceremony at the South Range Fire Hall.
In the past, veterans and volunteers have gathered at the flagpole to raise the Star-Spangled Banner and hear the national anthem sung by the local high school choir.
Throughout the day south range enjoys a lot of fun for friends and families, with cornhole tournament, a touch a truck event, tours of the Copper Ra
nge Museum, and the children’s race. Some adults might even sneak away for a tour of the Keweenaw Brewing Company’s brewery in town. But the town will stop for a moment to watch the parade.
While the evening wanes into night, the community will hear music from Rewind at the street dance and Tom and Dirk at the Ballfield Pavilion. Or even take the stage and become a big star at karaoke at the 1902 Tap and Grill. Fireworks will cap off the day’s festivities at dusk.
Those interested in participating in the 2025 South Range parade and competition should contact the South Range Fourth of July Committee for more information.
