The Tigers lost 5-2 to the Angels Saturday night. Jack Flaherty allowed one run over five innings, then was charged with four more before leaving in the sixth. Both Detroit runs came late in the game – on Spencer Torkelson’s 10th home run of the season in the eighth inning, and on a Riley Greene groundout in the ninth.
The Tigers conclude that series in Anaheim this afternoon. Reese Olson will pitch against Jack Kochanowicz. Coverage will begin at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Beau Brieske returned from the injured list for Saturday’s game. Tyler Owens was dispatched to Toledo. Reliever John Brebbia began a rehab assignment with the Mud Hens Saturday. He’s recovering from a right triceps strain.
The Brewers’ struggles continued, with a 6-2 loss to the Cubs Saturday. Milwaukee collected just four hits, including a Rhys Hoskins home run. Jose Quintana took the loss, giving up all six Chicago runs over five innings.
The Brewers host the Cubs again today. Freddy Peralta will start against Shota Imanaga.
Milwaukee has called pitcher Elvin Rodriguez back up from Nashville, and sent reliever Craig Yoho down to the Sounds.
