In high school volleyball last evening…
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City defeated L’Anse 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 29-31, 25-17) in their Pink Out Fundraiser Game. For the Blue Bolts, Hannah Keranen had 21 kills and 4 blocks. Ava Nye had 13 kills, and Laila Bell had 12 kills along with 24 digs. Sylvie Kentala had 28 assists. Kiya Kemppainen added 14 assists and 26 digs. Ellie Keranen added 24 digs.
- Ontonagon downed Ewen-Trout Creek 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 16-25, 25-12).

Houghton swept the WestPAC Cross Country Finals at Gwinn yesterday…
- On the girls side, Negaunee placed second, followed by Calumet and Hancock. Holly Cooke of the Gremlins won the individual title. Alena Pietila of the Bulldogs placed third. Bethany McParlan was the Copper Kings’ top finisher, in eighth place.
- On the boys side, Jeffers came in second, followed by Westwood and Negaunee. Kemper Gearhart of Ishpeming took individual honors. Brandon Ven Karsen of the Gremlins placed third, followed by Brandon Anderson of the Jets in fourth.

Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Baraga, Chassell and Ewen-Trout Creek will be among the teams competing at Ironwood today.
The Houghton boys soccer team opened the district tournament with a 6-0 victory over Grayling last evening. Lucas Mayra scored twice for the Gremlins, and Daniel Lounibos, Colin Spencer, Simas Lebeliunas and Matthew Bennett added one goal apiece. The Gremlins will play at Kingsford in a district semifinal Tuesday. Elk Rapids and Kalkaska will meet in the other district semifinal.
MLB
The Brewers clubbed the Dodgers 6-2 last evening. Jackson Chourio hit a solo homer in the first inning. Jake Bauer’s two-run shot in the seventh was the game-winner, and Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo shot. Milwaukee takes a 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series, and could advance to the World Series with a victory tonight in Los Angeles.
The American League Championship Series resumes tonight in Cleveland. The Rays and Guardians are tied 1-1.

The Red Wings entertain the Flyers tonight.
It’s official – Alex De Brincat has signed a seven-year, $91 million contract extension with the Wings.
NBA
The Pistons outscored the Timberwolves 128-106 in a preseason game last evening. Jalen Duren led Detroit with 24 points.
The Pistons host the Raptors for their final preseason contest tomorrow.
The Bucks fell to the Bulls 125-104 in a preseason contest last night. Kam Jones scored 23 for Milwaukee.
The Bucks visit the Pacers for their final preseason game tomorrow.
