The Michigan Tech women’s soccer team fell 4-0 to fifth-ranked Grand Valley State yesterday. The Huskies are still looking for their first win of the season.
The Northern Michigan women’s team dropped a 2-0 decision to Saginaw Valley State yesterday.
MLB
The Tigers buried the Rockies 8-1 yesterday. Jackson Jobe gave up a run in the first inning, then pitched into the seventh, giving up just three hits and striking out eight. Riley Greene’s two-run homer in the first inning gave the Tigers all the runs they would need. Spencer Torkelson’s solo shot in the fifth capped their scoring.
The Tigers visit the Blue Jays tonight. Troy Melton will start against José Soriano. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Brewers fell to the Reds 4-3 yesterday. Joey Ortiz and Jake Bauers homered. Cincinnati scored the game-winner off Abner Uribe in the top of the eighth.
The Brewers have today off, and host the Pirates tomorrow night.
NFL
The Lions blew a 21-0 lead, then outlasted the Saints 31-30 in overtime yesterday. The game ended when New Orleans opted to go for the win instead of the tie, and their two-point conversion attempt failed. Jared Goff threw two touchdown passes to Amon-Ra St. Brown, including the game-winner in overtime. Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 156 yards and two scores.
The Vikings scored the final 29 points of the game, and upended the Packers 39-22 yesterday. Trey Smack kicked three field goals for Green Bay, but missed an extra point attempt. Minnesota starting quarterback Kyler Murray left in the first quarter with a concussion that came from an illegal hit. Carson Wentz came off the bench and threw three touchdown passes. It was the first time in NFL history that a game ended with a 39-22 score.
In last night’s contest, the Giants outscored the Cowboys 28-20.
Tonight, the Broncos visit the Chiefs.
