Driving around the Keweenaw Peninsula offers stunning views of changing fall colors, but exploring the seasonal transition with a little dust and mud on the tires provides an even better experience.
Toward the end of the month, MI-Trail hosts its annual senior ORV fall color tour, an event that has brought many seniors in the community together to enjoy off-road riding while taking in the natural beauty of the region’s forests and trees.
MI-Trail will offer two tour experiences to seniors in 2026. The first tour departs from the Ontonagon Fairgrounds at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 24. The second color tour begins at 11 a.m. and includes lunch at Twin Lakes State Park for a longer ride experience.
The fall color tour provides an opportunity for seniors to connect with fellow community members while experiencing the Keweenaw Peninsula’s natural landscape from a unique perspective. The ORV format allows participants to access trails and viewpoints that showcase the region’s seasonal transformation.
Those interested in joining MI-Trail for the color tour or wanting to support the organization’s fall color tour must contact the group before Sept. 21. Early registration ensures organizers can plan appropriately for both tour groups and coordinate logistics.
