The Tigers built a big early lead, then held off the Rays 10-9 last night. Dillon Dingler, Kerry Carpenter and Riley Greene blasted back-to-back-to-back homers in the third inning. After Dingler hit his second homer of the game in the fifth, and Hao-Yu Lee knocked one out in the sixth, the Tigers were up by six runs. But Brenan Hanifee gave up a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, and added four more off Beau Brieske and Will Vest in the bottom of the eighth to narrow the gap to one. Vest remained in the game and retired Tampa in order in the bottom of the ninth to get the save.
