MITRALE helps young people get outside and on the trail.
Ahead of the ATV/ORV season getting underway across the western Upper Peninsula, MITRALE hosted students for a program at Camp Nesbit. The annual event brings students together from local sixth-grade classes to learn about ride right, ATV/ORV safety and some fun.
The students were able to pass their state-required classroom training, earning a Certified to Ride safety certificate. The program included 36 students from the Ewen Trout Creek Schools district, Ontonagon Area Schools and Watersmeet Schools.
The program occurs each May with the help of dedicated MITRALE members who help lead instruction and donate their machines for students to practice their new skills.
“It was all around an excellent day!” said Vice President Jon Fourez. “The weather was great, and students were very nice and respectful of instructors.”
Over 10 years, MITRALE has helped more than 500 students in the western Upper Peninsula gain the skills and knowledge for how to ride right on the region’s miles of off-road trails.
The program represents MITRALE’s commitment to promoting safe, responsible recreation while introducing young people to outdoor activities. By providing hands-on training and safety education, the organization helps ensure the next generation of riders understands proper trail etiquette and safety protocols.
