After a winter with near-record snowfall totals, the Memorial Day weekend includes lots of local outdoor activities.
The Locavore Festival kicks off the farmers market season on the downtown Houghton pier tomorrow. A locavore is someone who eats produce grown in their local area. To that end, Jake TenHarmsel from the From the Ground Farmers Market Collective says they have more than 50 vendors signed up…
A lot of the vendors you’ll see at the From the Ground Farmers Market and other farmers markets in the area, and some will just kind of be one-off. There’ll be food trucks and all kinds of cool stuff.
The Locavore Festival runs from noon until 4:00 tomorrow, and will also feature live music and a visit from some baby goats. Learn more here.
Sunday’s Flower Moon Spring Market will feature an eclectic selection art, seasonal treats, plant starts, homemade jams and baked goods, and handmade craft items. The market is organized by a group called the Whimsiqueers…
They have this really fun approach to putting together these kind of craft/farmers/bakery markets that are sort of themed a little bit.
The theme this time is fairies. Participants are encouraged to dress the part, but that’s not required. The Flower Moon Spring Market will be open Sunday from 1:00 until 6:00 at Quincy Green and the Hancock Community Hub. See more here.
