The Tigers host the Guardians tonight. Framber Valdez will start against Slade Cecconi. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit pitcher Ty Madden has been placed on the injured list, after taking a line drive on his right forearm during Friday’s game. Team officials say it’s a contusion, but an exam showed no structural damage. Reliever Will Vest was brought off the injured list, and will fill that roster spot.
The Brewers dropped a 5-4 decision to the Twins. Christian Yelich returned to the lineup and hit a home run. Brought up from Nashville for the game, Robert Gasser gave up three runs over four innings. Kody Clemens hit a bizarre home run for Minnesota. With a runner on first, he slugged a line drive that bounced off the left field wall. Jackson Chourio chased it down, as the lead runner rounded third base, and Clemens cruised into second. Joey Ortiz’s relay throw to the plate skipped past the catcher. Clemens took off from second. The ball landed out of play, and Clemens was awarded home plate by the umpire. Officially, it was ruled a double, with an error on the throw. Unofficially, it was a Little League home run.
The Brewers visit the Cubs tonight. Brandon Sproat will pitch against Shota Imanaga.
To open a space for Gasser on the roster, pitcher Peter Strzelecki was designated for assignment.
