Edit: The HHSAA lunch will occur inside the building, in the multipurpose room.
During America’s 250th anniversary communities in the Copper Country will center veterans at many events. The Houghton High School Alumni Association will honor veterans with a flag raising ceremony and appreciation lunch next week to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
The Military Alumni Appreciation Event on May 16 will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a ceremony led by the Junior ROTC Color Guard. Association President Mark Smith and JROTC Director Dylan Carlson will join students for the flag ceremony, which will also include a rededication of the high school’s alumni roll call plaques.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to an appreciation lunch indoors at 11:30 a.m. The picnic will offer free lunch to the first 100 veterans in attendance.
Tickets for non-military guests cost $10 and can be purchased at the event. Those with questions can contact the alumni association.
