Polling places will open Tuesday for local elections featuring education-related ballot measures across the region.
The Copper Country Intermediate School District will ask residents to consider a millage renewal supporting career and technical education programs. The Copper Country CTE serves eight programs and enrolls more than 350 students, providing vital workforce training opportunities.
Ewen – Trout Creek Area Schools voters will consider a $6.1 million bond millage that will replace another bond expected to end this year, ensuring continued facility improvements and educational resources.
Dollar Bay Tamarack City Schools seeks renewal of a non-homestead operating millage to support retaining critical staff and purchasing education tools used in classrooms. This millage affects commercial and rental properties but not private residences.
Ontonagon Area Schools and Baraga Area Schools residents will each consider sinking fund millage renewals to support projects that improve facilities and maintain educational infrastructure.
These measures reflect the ongoing need for local funding to supplement state and federal education dollars to maintain quality educational programs across the region.
Polling places officially open at 7 a.m. Voters can find sample ballots for their districts on the Michigan Voter Information Center website.
