The Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition will host its annual Keweenaw Clean Up and Community Picnic on May 16, coordinating volunteers throughout the region to clean parks, beaches and roadsides.
The cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers can start at their favorite locations or stop at the KORC tent in Copper Harbor to join a crew. The event includes removing debris from illegal dump sites throughout the region.
In 2025, KORC volunteers cleaned up more than 5,800 pounds of refuse.
After completing cleanup work across the peninsula, KORC invites the community to its annual picnic at Donny Kilpela Memorial Park in Copper Harbor.
The organization welcomes families, friends, work teams, businesses and nonprofit organizations to participate in the community service event.
