Calumet High School’s robotics team earned a spot at the World Robotics competition in Houston, Texas, after winning a division championship at the Michigan FIRST Robotics state competition hosted by Michigan State University over the weekend.
The Copper Bots finished as Michigan state semifinalists and received an invitation to compete at the world level following their performance in East Lansing.
The team has organized a GoFundMe page to raise $15,000 for the trip to Houston. Students plan to make the journey but need community support to cover travel costs.
The competition brought together many student teams, including several from the Upper Peninsula. Calumet High School’s robotics team continues to build an impressive resume with this latest achievement.
