A Calumet man pleaded no contest in 12th Circuit Court to two charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor on Monday.
Chad Raymond Just, 40 years old of Calumet, pleaded no contest to two counts of criminal sexual conduct before Judge Brittaney Bulleit in 12th Circuit Court. Judge Bulleit found the defense and prosecution had good cause to accept a plea agreement with Just pleading no contest to two second-degree charges after a predetermined deadline had already passed.
Assistant Prosecutor Hillary Baker explained to the court the time to contact the victims’ families and consolidate two cases into one took additional time. Baker also submitted a Houghton County sheriff report as evidence in the plea hearing for Bulleit to review.
After reviewing a multipage summary of the incident and the police report, Judge Bulleit revoked Just’s bond for the time between the plea hearing and his sentencing.
Just was arrested in 2025. The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a second victim while Just was housed at the Houghton County Jail related to a different investigation. During a February 2025 interview, Just confirmed two separate incidents of inappropriate sexual conduct with victims occurred around 2023 and 2022. Just was arraigned in March 2025 on the two charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He was able to post 10 percent of a $50,000 bond at that time.
The court will set Chad Raymond Just’s sentencing hearing within the next 30 to 45 days. Just faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in state prison, mandatory lifetime monitoring and would need to register as a level three sex offender. No date for sentencing has been posted on the MiCourt case search website.
