High School
Heikki Lunta wiped out the high school hockey regional semifinals last night. Both will be made up tomorrow at the SDC.
- Second-seed Calumet takes on third-seed Jeffers at 5:30. Coverage will begin around 5:10 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.
- Top-seed Houghton will play fourth-seed Hancock at 7:30. Coverage will begin around 7:10 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.
The Great Lakes Hockey Conference has released its All-Conference list. The Jim Crawford Player of the Year is Escanaba forward Graham Johnson. Aaron Helminen of Jeffers was named the Don Miller Coach of the Year. Marquette defenseman Jacob Spagnuolo was honored as the Rick Miller Rookie of the Year.
Local players on the First Team include Brogan Turner and Kasen Helminen from Jeffers, and Nathan Londo and Drake Niemela from Calumet.
Local players on the Second Team include Kirby Storm from Hancock, Erik Loukus from Calumet, and Blake Heltunen from Jeffers.
Honorable Mentions include Beau Jukuri from Calumet, Connor Helminen from Hancock, and Griffin Heinonen from Jeffers.

Play-in games in the Eastern U.P Regional were staged last night. Sault Ste. Marie ousted Negaunee 5-2, and Kingsford blanked Manistique 2-0. In the regional semifinals tomorrow, Soo will play at Escanaba, and Kingsford will play at Marquette.

A number of local players have been selected to appear in the first U.P. All-Star Volleyball competition. The roster includes Emmy Pietila and Claire Johnson from Houghton, Cleo Milkey from Lake Linden-Hubbell, Ava Fischer and Elsie Williams from Forest Park, Mia Nordstrom from Jeffers, and Sophie Berryman and Kiera Isaacson from Dollar Bay-Tamarack City. The players will be divided into four teams for the competition on June 26th at Forest Park High School. Kate Bonacorsi of Calumet and Bobbie Anderson of Forest Park will be among the coaches.
College Basketball
Both Michigan Tech teams play at Northern Michigan tonight.
NHL
The Red Wings are off until February 26th because of the Olympic break.
NBA
The Pistons return from the All-Star break tonight when they visit the Knicks. Coverage will begin at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks resume play tomorrow at New Orleans.
