Keweenaw Community Foundation extends a thanks to the community for their recent support during Keweenaw Gold. Earlier this month, the Keweenaw Community Foundation hosted its annual foundation fundraising event, inviting the community to hear from the KCF leadership team and board about the foundation’s next chapter. The annual event also serves to update the community on what the foundation has been working on, and exciting plans for 2026. Director of development and communication Vienna Leonarduzzi says Keweenaw Gold reflects the heart of the community, honoring generosity, collaboration, and a shared love for the Keweenaw’s communities.
This year’s event was hosted at the Rozsa Center on Michigan Tech’s campus and was joined by a live paint exhibit from Rebecca Paavo, and DIY Bookmark activity run by the Keweenaw Young Professionals with music provided by Clay Hilman on piano. Keweenaw Community Foundation also extended gratitude toward sponsors of Keweenaw Gold, Insight Wealth Solutions, Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, McGann Building Supply, The Nature Conservancy and the Keweenaw Heartlands Project, and Peninsula Federal Credit Union.
Throughout the year, the Keweenaw community Foundation works with community groups to establish funds, trusts and scholarship programs that benefit communities and residents. The foundation also disperses a variety of grant programs, and collaborates with organizations to support various programming in the region.
