Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa community College earns a 1 million grant award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Serices. The initial award that came in 2024 helped the college establish its new nurse education program.
The initial award placed the college in the running for an additional 4 million dollars over four years, contingent on appropriations. The investment into KBOCC” nursing program ensures students gain skills tools, and knowledge needed to work in a critical field such as healthcare, and meet the challenges experienced in Upper Peninsula medical facilities.
The most recent grant will allow KBOCC to continue expanding its instructional capacity, invest in simulation technology, support student success and retention through tuition assistance, or other incentives, and strengthen clinical education and partnerships by expanding the program’s practicum experience.
