A new name can make it easier to identify how an organization impacts a community. Recently the Keweenaw Family Resource Center rebranded the organization as the Treehouse Family Resources.
So, we got a much more modern and updated uh logo from Monty, which has a tree house in it. And then the monsters uh are a fun element to add to our branding. And we look at them as sort of representing the variety of shapes and sizes and colors that families come in so that any family, whatever they look like, feels comfortable here. – Liz Ludington, Director, Treehouse Family Resources
New director, Liz Ludington, says many in the region recognize the treehouse indoor playground but may not recognize the other branches the reach out into the copper country.
So those are our play-based programs. host special events. Sometimes they’re literacy focused. Sometimes we’re in an initiative right now to really focus on fatherhood. So often our special events right now are about fatherhood focus. We have a fatherhood program that is an educational program. The father is called 24-7 Dad and they can work one-on-one with our fatherhood educator to just be able to discuss and learn more about being a dad. – Liz Ludington, Director, Treehouse Family Resources
Ludington comes to the Treehouse Family Resources with several years of experience in early childhood development and mental health resources. She was elevated to the role of director after serving in the Assistant Director role from 2023. Ludington says she hopes to continue the organization’s impact in the community through a variety of programs, and gain access to various funding resources that can improve efforts to add childcare providers in the region.
We still really need a lot of slots. I think for the last needs assessment we needed over 600. Gabby’s Guppies obviously is doing a great um service to fill a bunch of those, but nowhere near what we need. ah the work that we’re doing through the Great Start Collaborative is called the Start Small Program, and we have a childcare coach, Abby Carlson. She has a lot of experience with early childcare, and so she can coach people that are interested and going into uh the childcare system to become childcare providers. – Liz Ludington, Director, Treehouse Family Resources
