MLB
Gleyber Torres’ sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning gave the Tigers a 4-3 victory over the Twins last night. Minnesota opened an early lead, plating all their runs off starter Tarik Skubal in the third inning. Skubal regrouped, and hung in through the seventh. Detroit got two back on a Riley Greene homer in the fourth, and tied it on a Colt Keith single in the sixth.
The Tigers visit the Twins again tonight. Charlie Morton will pitch against Pierson Ohl. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Alex Cobb is a step closer to joining the Tigers’ rotation. Cobb signed a free agent contract last winter, but has missed the entire season with a hip injury. After some rehab appearances for the West Michigan Whitecaps, he’s being moved up to Toledo. Sawyer Gipson-Long was sent down to Toledo before last night’s game, and Bailey Horn was brought up.
The Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series in Cincinnati tonight. Milwaukee has not listed a starter, but they could hand the ball to Jacob Misiorowski, who is eligible to return from the injured list today. Nick Martinez will open for the Reds.
Milwaukee outfielder Jake Bauers is beginning a rehab stint at Nashville. He’s recovering from a shoulder problem. Outfielder Blake Perkins has been placed on the bereavement list, and will not be with the team tonight.
