Woody Guthrie, Edgar Winter, Davy Jones, and many other incredible artists have taken center stage in Calumet. This Saturday night, country artist Keith Anderson will join the theatre’s lineup of musicians, performing on the historic 125-year-old stage at Calumet Theatre.
We’ve had some pretty phenomenal artists grace our stage over the years, and Keith is definitely right up there and we’re very pleased and fortunate to have him. And I will say that this is going to be a rare opportunity for you to see this guy as he comes back onto the scene. – Nate Jones, Executive Director, Calumet Theatre
Calumet Theatre Executive Director Nate Jones notes that many may know Anderson from his 2004 single Pickin’ Wildflowers. Anderson also contributed to the duet Beer Run by George Jones and Garth Brooks and worked on Big and Rich’s Lost in the Moment.
So it’s been exactly 20 years since that big hit. But then he had other hits as well. He had Podunk was another one, as well as XXL. Which, actually, if you look at the video, he had all kinds of cameos. – Nate Jones, Executive Director, Calumet Theatre
Jones adds it’s exciting to welcome an artist of Anderson’s caliber to the intimate stage.
You lack that personal connection. Here at the Calumet Theatre, that’s not the case. There’s not a single seat where you don’t have that personal connection. It’s always there. You feel like the artist is right there in front of you, singing and performing. So it is a very special place. The artist feels that too. They feed off that energy. I’ve been told that many, many times. – Nate Jones, Executive Director, Calumet Theatre
Anderson took a hiatus from his music career to raise his family but is ready to bring the music during the Pickin’ Wildflowers 20th Anniversary Tour.
going through the green room. So they get to see the green room with how it’s set up with the food and the entrees and just to see the inner workings of how that all goes and why we do what we do. And then they can sit out in the audience area and watch as stuff is getting set up as the band goes in and starts to do a sound check. Then following that sound check, know, then Keith will come off stage and come out and chat with everybody. – Nate Jones, Executive Director, Calumet Theatre
