Wenceel Pérez and Zach McKinstry homered, as the Tigers shaded the Guardians 2-1 Saturday. Reese Olson returned from the injured list, and pitched into the fifth inning. He gave up six hits, but just one run. Tyler Holton, Tommy Kahnle and Will Vest finished the game, with Holton getting the win, and Vest the save.
The Tigers visit the Guardians again tonight. Casey Mize will pitch against Logan Allen. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
To make room for Olson on the roster, Detroit optioned Justyn-Henry Malloy back to Toledo.
Jackson Chourio doubled home Christian Yelich for the winning run in the top of the eighth inning, as the Brewers got past the Mets 6-5. Quinn Priester struggled, allowing all five New York runs before leaving in the fifth. Aaron Ashby doused a New York rally in the fifth, and added two more scoreless innings to earn the win. Chad Durbin had two hits, stole two bases, drove in a run and scored twice.
The Brewers visit the Marlins again this afternoon. Chas Patrick will start against Cal Quantrill.
