A community action group partners with local businesses to organize a fundraiser supporting residents with medical debt. Keweenaw Indivisible has set a goal to raise $ 15,000 to support medical debt purchases through a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit. For every one dollar donated to the campaign, Keweenaw Indivisible says Undue Medical Debt can assist with eliminating up to 145 dollars in debt. The campaign, Stronger Together, hopes to eliminate medical debt for more than 1300 families in Michigan.
Leading up to an event in July individuals can donate to the campaign online. On July 29th at Small Craft in Hancock, the group will host an in-person fundraiser with live music, food trucks, and a silent auction. During the event next month, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the families affected by the campaign.
