Tarik Skubal turned in another dominating performance last night, as the Tigers downed the Orioles 4-1. Skubal allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings. Dillon Dingler’s solo home run in the first inning gave Detroit an early advantage. Parker Meadows’ three-run shot in the fourth completed the scoring.
The Tigers host the Reds tonight . Keider Montero is expected to pitch for Detroit, although manager A.J. Hinch may use an opener. Nick Martinez will start for Cincinnati. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
After giving up five runs in Wednesday’s loss to the Orioles, reliever Beau Brieske has been sent down to Toledo. The meltdown inflated his season earned run average to 6.55. Reliever Matt Gage has been called up.
Last night’s highly anticipated debut of rookie starter Jacob Misiorowski was everything Brewers fans had hoped for. Misiorowski struck out five over five hitless innings, in a 6-0 victory over the Cardinals. His fastball topped out at 102.2 miles per hour. Misiorowski left the game in the top of the sixth after suffering a cramp and turning an ankle – neither injury is believed to be serious. Jackson Chourio homered. Sal Frelick had three hits and drove in two runs.
The Brewers host the Cardinals again this evening. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Erick Fedde.
To make room for Misiorowski on the roster, reliever Easton McGee was sent back to Nashville. To make room in the rotation, manager Pat Murphy said that struggling starter Aaron Civale will be demoted to the bullpen. Civale did not take the news well, and has asked to be traded.
NHL
The Oilers shaded the Panthers 5-4 in overtime last night, to tie the Stanley Cup Championship Series at two wins per team. Game five will be played in Edmonton tomorrow night.
NBA
The NBA Championship Series resumes tonight, as the Pacer host the Thunder. Indiana leads the series 2-1.
Running
Final registration for tonight’s Thatcher Markham Memorial 5kl Run and Walk will be held from 4 until 6 near the race start at the west edge of downtown Hancock. The race will kick off tonight’s Bridgefest parade at 7.
