The Tigers couldn’t hold an early lead, and fell to the Guardians 7-5 in extra innings Saturday. Detroit plated three runs in the first inning. Cleveland got two back off Casey Mize, who went struck out six over five frames. A run off Tommy Kahnle tied the game in the eighth. The Guardians blew the contest open with four runs off Benan Hanifee in the top of the 10th. The Tigers got two back on a Gleyber Torres double in the bottom of the inning, but Colt Kieth popped out, and Riley Greene grounded out to end the game.
The Tigers have dropped three straight, and host the Guardians again today. Tarik Subal will start against Logan Allen. Coverage will begin at 11:10 on 99.3 The Lift.
As Mize was activated off the injured list, Akil Baddoo was returned to Toledo to make room on the roster.
The Brewers pounded out 11 hits, but only pushed one runner home in a 2-1 loss to the Pirates Saturday. Quinn Priester allowed a run over six innings, when he left the game with a blister. Tyler Alexander allowed the winning run in the seventh, and took the loss.
The Brewers visit the Pirates again today. Logan Henderson will pitch against Bailey Falter.
NBA
The Timberwolves routed the Thunder 143-101 Saturday night. Oklahoma City holds a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference final.
The Knicks visit the Pacers tonight. Indiana leads the Eastern Conference final 2-0.
NHL
The Panthers clobbered the Hurricanes 6-2 Saturday evening. Florida leads the Eastern Conference final 3-0.
The Stars visit the Oilers this afternoon. The Western Conference final is tied 1-1.
