Michigan’s favorite flower will soon bloom across the state with the Michigan Department of Transportation setting up construction zones in preparation for summer. Today MDOT announced plans to install a traffic signal on M-26 at the Canal Road intersection in Houghton.
The department has monitored the area over several years, conducting traffic studies to determine if a signal is needed. The department has determined the M-26 and canal road intersection will require a new traffic signal, particularly during busy tourism times of the year. A new signal will operate between May and October each year. During winter months the signal will switch to flash mode.
The department expects work to install the signal will be finish by July.
