Girls regional basketball semifinals will be played tonight.
- In Division Four, Hancock will face Ewen-Trout Creek at 7:00 at Houghton High School.
- In Division Three, Calumet will play Menominee at 7:00 at Escanaba High School. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.

College Basketball
Northern Michigan University claimed the title in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament with a 78-63 victory over Lake Superior State yesterday. Jackson Dudek led the Wildcats with 19 points.
The victory gives Northern the automatic GLIAC berth in the NCAA Division II tournament. The Wildcats are seeded sixth in the Midwest Regional at Springfield, Illinois. They’ll open the tournament Saturday at 4:30 against third-seed Michigan Tech. The Huskies received an at-large bid as regular-season GLIAC champions, despite falling to NMU 69-68 in the GLIAC tournament semifinals Saturday.
Ferris State and Lake Superior State also earned tournament invitations.
The Northern Michigan women’s team is also headed to post-season play. The Wildcats fell 78-63 to Ferris State in the GLIAC tournament semifinals Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 79-48 to Grand Valley State in the championship game yesterday. Northern is seeded third in the Midwest Region, and will open against sixth-seed Hillsdale Friday at noon at Grand Valley State in Allendale. Grand Valley, Ferris State and Wayne State also made the tournament field.
College Hockey
Michigan Tech defenseman Chase Pietila has signed a three-year entry-level NHL contract with the Penguins, beginning with the upcoming season. Pietila was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
The field is set for the Central Collegiate Hockey Association semifinals. Bowling Green stunned Augustana 3-2 in overtime yesterday to take that quarterfinal series 2-1. The seventh-seeded Falcons will play a single-elimination semifinal at top-seed Minnesota State Saturday. Fourth-seed Bowling Green will play at third-seed St. Thomas.

The Red Wings have dropped five straight, and visit the Senators tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
The Pistons held off the Trail Blazers 119-112 last night. Cade Cunningham scored 28, Jalen Duren turned in another double-double, with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The Pistons host the Wizards tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Bucks suffered a 112-100 loss to the Cavaliers last night. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 30.
The Bucks visit the Pacers tomorrow.
MLB
Javier Báez hit a three-run homer, as the Tigers downed the Pirates 5-3 yesterday. Tarik Skubal pitched into the fourth, and gave up two runs.
The Tigers face the Yankees this afternoon. Kenta Maeda will start against Will Warren.
The Brewers lost 5-2 to the Royals yesterday. Aaron Civale gave up two runs over three innings.
Milwaukee will face the Mariners today. Tobias Myers will pitch against Casey Lawrence.
