In high school hockey last evening…
- Hancock steamrolled Marquette 6-1. Ben Keranen had a hat trick for the Bulldogs. Jax Pierner had a goal and two assists. Brady Axford and Tevin Stukel also scored. Isaac Johnson made 25 saves.
In boys high school basketball last night…
- Dollar Bay-Tamarack City downed Calumet 58-47. Liam Tourtillot powered the Blue Bolts with 24 points. Gavin Sturos scored 13 for the Copper Kings, and Micah Pieti added 12.
- Baraga stopped Chassell 62-47.
- Ewen-Trout Creek fell to Forest Park 76-41.
In girls action…
- Houghton overpowered Gwinn 76-28. Eva Gerard had 25 points and 9 rebounds for the Gremlins. Tessa Rautiola and Jacey Sleeman each added 11.
- Calumet pushed past Hancock 44-24. After leading by two at halftime, the Copper Kings outscored the Bulldogs 27-9 in the second half. Kiirsi Johnson led the Copper Kings with 14 points, and Jackie Killunen added 13. Lydia Pelli netted eight for the Bulldogs.
- Lake Linden-Hubbell dispatched Wakefield-Marenisco 69-53. Cleo Milkey scored 26 for the Lakes, and Emily Jokela added 25.
- L’Anse pounded Jeffers 74-42.
- Baraga smothered Chassell 60-13.
- Ewen-Trout Creek defeated Forest Park 61-32.

The Brewers have signed a minor league deal with right-hander Deivi Garcia. Garcia was a top-tier prospect in the Yankees’ system several years ago, but has struggled at the major league level.
Former Detroit Tigers slugger Rocky Colavito has died. Colavito averaged 35 homers and 107 RBIs per season during his four years in the Motor City, starting in 1960 after he was traded by Cleveland to Detroit for All-Star third baseman Harvey Kuenn. He also played for the Athletics, Yankees and Dodgers, while making nine All-Star teams. He remains one of just a handful of major leaguers to hit four home runs in one game. Rocky Colavito was 91.
