A court in Seoul, South Korea has fined BTS band member Suga the equivalent of $11,500 for an August 6 incident where the K-pop star was caught driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol. Suga was brought in for questioning by Seoul police after he fell to the ground while riding on an electric scooter near his home. Korean media has previously reported that Suga’s blood alcohol concentration that night was measured at 0.227%. That level far exceeded the 0.08% threshold which could have led to him having his driving license canceled. Suga was apparently issued a “summary indictment” for the incident, where a court will “impose a fine or confiscation through an expedited process without a full trial.” Suga immediately apologized at the time of the incident on the fan platform Weverse, saying he was sorry for letting his fans down.
